When I first started playing volleyball, it was just so I could say I was playing a sport. Three years ago, I would have never imagined that I would be where I am today on my volleyball path and I never would have dreamed of the countless opportunities and possibilities that the sport of volleyball has given me. Being a part of Sandstorm has not only helped me strengthen my skills and sharpen my knowledge, but has taught me important mental aspects that are applicable to most everything I do in life. Sandstorm has introduced me incredible people, coaches and friends, and it's such a comforting feeling knowing that you have a second family that you can always turn to, a beach volleyball family.
Beach volleyball is not easy, but having such great coaches by my side makes it a whole lot smoother. If I hadn’t met Jay Ellmyer my first season at recreational volleyball, and if he hadn’t seen the potential in me, I probably would not be half as good as I am today. Even when I was 10 years old, he pushed me because he believed in me even when I didn't believe in myself. Jay introduced me to the game I’ve come to know and love beach volleyball. And from there, I’ve gotten to know so many more phenomenal coaches- to name a few- Eric, Tammy, Orville and Rose. Rose has always supported me, from teaching me how to underhand serve to coaching me through each point at a finals match. It’s amazing to see how these great people are willing to dedicate their time (and patience) to help me and all other players.
All in all, Sandstorm has changed me in a remarkable way, and I would just like to say that I’m so appreciative of everyone who has helped me and supported me along the way. I’m so proud of this wonderful club and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for all of us!
